Defensive coordinator Tim Banks is officially leaving the program and now Illinois moves on to a new regime heading up the defensive side of the ball.
I believe this makes the 4th coach to leave the program either by choice or being fired. The other three being offensive line coach Tom Brattan and linebackers coach Mike Ward, both fired, and special teams/tight end coach Alex Golesh, who left for Iowa State.
If you look at the program right now the main problem as far as on the field is the defense. There really isn’t much to argue about that fact.
