Illinois football adds new QB, eligible immediately

Illinois football has a new quarterback on its roster beginning Monday, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Former Central Florida quarterback Pete DiNovo left the program last month and transferred to Illinois, practicing with Lovie Smith’s team Monday, the article says.

DiNovo appeared in two career games — one as a quarterback and one as a wide receiver — over three seasons with the Knights. His three passing attempts as a freshman totaled for minus-5 total yards.

While it is unclear at the moment what DiNovo’s role on the Illini may be, there are questions circulating about who the starting quarterback will be against Nebraska on Sept.
