Illinois was setting up their team through recruiting and the quarterback position was one that, then head coach, Tim Beckman wanted to address. In the class of 2013 he did that with the addition of 4-star quarterback Aaron Bailey.
Bailey was supposed to be the quarterback of the future for the Illini. We had previous experience with a duel-threat guy behind center with Nathan Scheelhaase. This had worked out in the past and it was supposed to with Bailey.
The first season Bailey was at Illinois he didn’t get much playing time.
