EVANSTON, Ill. — Illinois was up 66-65 with 55.3 seconds left when head coach Brad Underwood took a timeout.
Out of the break, the Illini had a shot clock violation. Northwestern, with a chance to win, missed the initial shot, grabbed its offensive rebound and sunk a three.
And the Illini are still winless in Big Ten play after a 68-66 loss in Evanston on Sunday afternoon.
Illinois (4-11, 0-4 Big Ten) missed all 11 of its three-point attempts in the loss, but did shoot 22-of-27 from the charity stripe.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Get Dunked: Northwestern didn’t build a lead midway through the first half on good shooting from distance or the free throw line, but instead via layups and dunks.
