On Saturday, it was announced that Jermaine Hamlin had committed to play basketball for the Illini. This news was first reported by Scott Burgess of Prep Hoops Illinois. Hamlin wasn’t on the radar of many fans, but he is a big addition considering the uncertainty of another commitment we had earlier this year.
Hamlin isn’t ranked or rated by 247Sports and didn’t have a ton of recruiting attention. He is from Lincoln Community High School in Lincoln, Illinois. He checks in at 6-foot-10, 240-pounds as well. That is good size to have for the Illini.
It was Hamlin’s plan to move from the class of 2019 to 2020 and attend Link Year Prep School, but he has stayed in the class of 2019 and will be a part of the Illini this season, according to Derek Piper of 247Sports.
