It had been a long time since we had a big man who could tear up the paint for the Illini. The John Groce era failed to produce one and the Bruce Weber era only produced one, and that ended in a disaster. So, having the prospects of another big man come in was exciting. But Kofi isn’t just another big man.
As a true freshman, Kofi is arguably the best player on the Illinois basketball team. He has come in and exceeded top 50 recruit expectations. That is a difficult task to accomplish. This kid is the complete package, and he has been playing basketball for less than five years.
