The NCAA released their 2014-15 academic progress rates on Wednesday, and -- surprise! -- athletes (and everyone else) from the University of Illinois are still really smart. In fact, football (982) received their best-ever mark while men's basketball (990) tied their high from 2004-05. Men's golf, women's golf, women's tennis, and volleyball also maintained their perfect scores from a year ago.
Other than being an extra source for bragging rights, these numbers don't really mean that much in the grand scheme of things as long as each program scores above 930 to avoid penalties. But the football program's APR may quickly become very important if there aren't enough six-win teams to fill the bowl games.
