A source close to the Illinois football program confirmed Monday morning Illinois assistant coach Alex Golesh is leaving to become an assistant at Iowa State.
FootballScoop first reported the move Monday.
Iowa State hired Matt Campbell as its head coach on Sunday, with the 36-year-old Campbell joining the Cyclones after coaching the Rockets the last four seasons.
Campbell and Golesh worked together while at Toledo before Golesh left the Rockets to join Tim Beckman at Illinois after the 2011 season. Campbell, Toledo's offensive coordinator at the time, stayed to take over the Rockets' program.
Golesh held a variety of roles during his four years at Illinois, serving as recruiting coordinator for the Illini from 2012 to 2014.
