Defensive end depth for Illinois was a concern after the 2015 season.
Illinois took some steps to address that through its 2016 recruiting class that coach Bill Cubit signed in early February, but landed immediate help on Tuesday with the addition of former Auburn defensive end Gimel President, a source close to the program said on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-4, 263-pound President is a fifth-year graduate transfer who will be eligible to play in 2016 for Illinois, much like former Illinois linebacker T.J. Neal is eligible to play right away for Auburn after he decided earlier this month to transfer to the Tigers.
