VERONA, Wis. —The Illinois women's golf team fired a 3-under 285 on Tuesday and moved into a three-way tie for sixth place at the NCAA Madison Regional in Verona, Wis., putting the Illini in contention for their first-ever NCAA Championships berth. The final round tees off at 8:30 a.m. today.
The Illini, who need to finish among the top six teams to advance to the championships field, notched the lowest single-round score at a regional in program history.
Senior Chayanid Prapassarangkul rebounded from a tough start Monday and carded a second-round 69 — the best Illini round score of the tournament — to move into a tie for 16th individually at 143 entering the final round.
