Illini volleyball advances in NCAA tournament

The Illinois volleyball team is onto the second round of the NCAA tournament.

First-year coach Chris Tamas picked up his first NCAA tournament win in charge of the Illini after Illinois took control early and then held off Hawaii 25-18, 25-17, 13-25, 24-26, 15-10 on Friday night at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle.

Jacqueline Quade registered 15 kills to lead the Illini, while Beth Prince and Megan Cooney each came down with 10 kills. Jordyn Poulter directed the Illinois offense and finished with 44 assists.
