Illini upset ranked Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS — Arieal Scott is used to hitting big-time outside shots.

She did it throughout her high school career at Schlarman and Urbana. Even won honors in 2016 as the state's best three-point shooter in Class 1A.

On Sunday, though, the Danville native did it on the biggest stage yet of her basketball career. And it benefitted the Illinois women's basketball team. In a big way.

The visiting Illini upset 12th-ranked Minnesota 66-62 in front of 6,622 fans at Williams Arena, giving Illinois second-year coach Nancy Fahey her first Big Ten win and ending the Illini's 29-game Big Ten losing streak that dated back to the 2016-17 season.
