WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Scoring runs in six of the nine innings helped the Illinois baseball team cruise to an 11-3 season-opening win Friday over Georgetown.
Redshirt senior Zac Taylor's two-run homer in the fifth inning broke a 2-2 tie, while senior David Craan belted a two-run shot to the opposite field in right in the ninth to cap Illinois' 14-hit performance at Couch Ballpark in Winston-Salem, N.C.
"There were a lot of really good things," Illini head coach Dan Hartleb said. "The thing I thought we did well was compete. Just a solid outing for us on both sides.
