CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois softball team won its sixth straight game Wednesday night, rallying past Eastern Illinois to record a 5-4 win at Illinois Field.
The Illini (31-15) took the lead for good on a go-ahead single by Sam Acosta in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Illinois right fielder Maddi Doane — who hit her team-leading ninth home run to start the comeback in the sixth — threw out Eastern Illinois pinch-runner Ashley Bartlett at third base to end the game.
Arcola native Taylor Edwards improved to 13-7 on the season, picking up the win in relief.
