URBANA — The importance of this weekend's series against Nebraska can't be overstated for the Illinois softball team.
So far, so good.
With the Cornhuskers sporting a strong RPI, and the Illini in desperate need of a quality win to bolster their NCAA tournament resume, Tyra Perry's team got the job done in Friday night's series opener at Eichelberger Field.
Kiana Sherlund knotted the game up with a two-out RBI single in the sixth, and Maddi Doane lashed an RBI single through the right side one frame later as Illinois walked off for a 5-4 victory over Nebraska.
