LOS ANGELES — Hardly a modest day at the plate for Illinois softball.
Scoring a combined 20 runs on 22 hits, the Illini cruised to a pair of run-rule shortened wins — an 11-2 victory over UC Santa Barbara followed by a 9-1 victory over Cal Poly in Friday doubleheader that kicked off the team's stay in the LMU Tournament.
Stephanie Abello helped bail out the Illini after two quick outs in the first inning against UC Santa Barbara, as the senior catcher drew a walk on a 3-2 pitch to start what would become a four-RBI game for her.
