Illini softball blanks SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE — Illinois softball's hot streak at the plate continued Wednesday afternoon with a 10-0 shutout of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at Cougar Field.
Illinois (19-9) cranked another three home runs one day after recording seven in a doubleheader sweep of UIC at home.

Redshirt junior Carly Thomas went 3 for 4 at the plate with two doubles, a home run and three RBI.
Junior right-hander and Arcola native Taylor Edwards (6-5) threw her first complete game of the season, giving up just two hits.

The Illini, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, are taking a four-game winning streak into Big Ten play, which begins today against Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind.
