Spring football practices were slated to begin this past Friday for the Illinois football team.
But the coaching change brought forth by Josh Whitman firing Bill Cubit on March 5 and hiring Lovie Smith two days later pushed back when the Illini were supposed to get in 15 practices this spring.
Illinois announced on Wednesday that the first day Smith will conduct practices this spring will be on April 1, but no set time is known.
The spring game was supposed to take place on April 16,which was slated as the final practice of the spring.
