CHAMPAIGN — Three Illinois softball players were recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday, just ahead of the team’s NCAA tournament opener against Utah.
Outfielder Nicole Evans, infielder Allie Bauch and pitcher Breanna Wonderly each received All-Midwest status from the group.
Evans received first-team honors, Bauch was placed on the second team and Wonderly was made part of the third team. It marks the third time Bauch has been given such recognition from the NFCA, while Evans and Wonderly are first-time honorees.
Evans leads Illinois in home runs, RBI, doubles, total bases and slugging percentage, while Bauch sits among the Illini’s top three in hits, doubles, triples, homers, RBI, total bases and slugging percentage.
