EAST LANSING, Mich. — Jannelle Flaws certainly picked an opportune moment to snap her six-match scoreless streak. Held without a goal since Sept. 6, the all-time leading scorer in Illinois history scored on a penalty kick with one second remaining to ultimately salvage a 1-1 tie against Michigan State after the Illini played their third consecutive double-overtime match.
“We can play much better soccer than we did (Thursday),” Illini coach Janet Rayfield said. “As expected, Michigan State gives you nothing and gets great numbers behind the ball. We did not do a good job of playing with both a sense of urgency and a sense of composure.
