Illini roundup: McFadden remains on roll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former Illini Tatyana McFadden collected the best time Friday in the women’s T-54 100-meter dash at the 2016 Paralympic Trials. The 27-year-old wheelchair athlete clocked 16.06 seconds for her third victory of the Trials.

McFadden was a winner Thursday night in the T-54 800 race (1 minute, 48.58 seconds) and T-53/54 5,000 race (11:38.93). She will compete Saturday in 400- and 1,500-meter races as well. Paralympic Games qualifiers will be determined after competition concludes Saturday.

Bloch-Jones falls short. Illinois women’s high jumper Kandie Bloch-Jones was unable to advance in the Olympic Trials’ version of the event, missing out on the weekend’s finals.
