CHAMPAIGN — Garrick McGee was able to pick out eight or nine plays from last Saturday's 24-21 win against Ball State that had big-play potential.
But only potential.
Whether it was a missed read downfield or missed blocks or protections by multiple offensive linemen, Illinois didn't capitalize on several opportunities to break a big play — and potentially strike against the Cardinals.
"There's a lot we're going to learn from," said McGee, the Illini's offensive coordinator. "The bottom line is you've got to play good. It's gameday. You've got to do exactly what you're coached to do.
