Illini Legends, Lists and Lore: D.J. Richardson

Happy 27th Birthday to Dietrich "D.J." Richardson (above). Recruited to Illinois to play basketball by Bruce Weber, Richardson played his final season in 2012-13 for John Groce.

The Peoria Central star, who performed at Findlay Prep in Nevada as a twelfth-grader, was a model of consistency for the Illini, averaging 10.5 points per game as a freshman, 8.4 points as a sophomore, 11.6 points as a junior and 12.3 points as a senior.

Richardson's top two scoring games came during his final season at Illinois. He had a 30-point outburst at Nebraska, hitting six of his nine three-point attempts and all six of his free throws.
