Today is Fighting Illini football alum Aaron Moorehead's 37th birthday. Born in Aurora, Colo., he was recruited to Illinois by then head coach Ron Turner from Deerfield (Illinois) High School.
Moorehead saw reserve action as a freshman, then was the Illini's second-leading receiver as a sophomore, grabbing four touchdown passes. As a junior for Illinois' Big Ten championship team in 2001, he had 17 catches, two of which went for TDs.
Moorehead's senior campaign saw him catch a career-best 32 passes for 399 yards and two touchdowns.
Number 86 ended his collegiate career with 85 receptions for 1,293 yards and nine TDs, just missing UI's Top 10 lists in each category.
