What happened
For the second straight Saturday, Illinois overwhelmed an overmatched foe. On offense, defense and special teams. Plus, Wes Lunt looked good. Real good. Just like the defense.
What it means
The pounding it dished out to Kent State last Saturday wasn’t an aberration. Illinois did the same to the Leathernecks, who at least received a $375,000 paycheck for their troubles.
What’s next
The most important nonconference game this season. Bill Cubit will try to become the first Illinois coach to start his tenure 3-0 since Ray Eliot did so in 1942 when Cubit’s Illini visit North Carolina.
