SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Illinois wasn't too worried about style points. After one of the worst starts in school history, the Illini just needed a win.
Jalen Coleman-Lands sank a 3-pointer from the corner at the buzzer, allowing Illinois to escape with an 82-79 victory over Chicago State Monday night.
Michael Finke scored 17 to lead Illinois (2-3), and he ignited a 14-0 run to tie the game at 66 before the Illini stole the victory on the game's last possession. After Chicago State was called for a shot clock violation with 4.6 seconds left, Illinois' Malcolm Hill rushed the ball up the court and found Coleman-Lands open in the corner.
