Camilo Eifler arrived in Champaign as a sophomore transfer from the Washington Huskies in 2018. Not having immediate eligibility, Eifler was forced to sit out the 2018 season and played his first snaps for the Illini in 2019. Over the course of the 2019 and 2020 seasons, Eifler accumulated some stellar stats: 90 total tackles, 13.5 TFLs, 3.0 sacks (including one in the RedBox Bowl against the California Golden Bears), and one fumble recovery, despite missing three games in 2020 due to injury. Similar to his teammate Jake Hansen, the athletic Eifler has a knack for always being around the ball.
