The topsy-turvy nature of recruiting continued for Illinois less than 48 hours until National Signing Day.
The Illini received a verbal commitment from Eddy Fish, an offensive lineman from Lawrence Academy in Groton, Mass., on Monday.
The 6-foot-6, 305-pound Fish committed to Boston College in mid-December but flipped to the Illini after an official visit to the Illinois campus this weekend.
Fish played in the Semper Fi All-American Game on Jan. 3, one of three prestigious national all-star games featuring some of the top players in the country.
Fish’s decision on Monday is the second flip Illinois has managed for a prospect originally committed to an ACC school in the week after Virginia prep product Andrew Trainer, a 6-7, 240-pound tight end, decommitted from Virginia and landed with Illinois last Tuesday.
