Aside from injury setbacks, Illinois men's basketball coach John Groce has been pleased with the progress of his freshman class of Jalen Coleman-Lands, Aaron Jordan and D.J. Williams.
Because he spent two years away from home at La Lumiere School in Northwest Indiana, Coleman-Lands, an Indianapolis product, has adjusted well to the college lifestyle.
“You can tell that his transition emotionally, academically, socially, all those things come into play when you leave home for the first time. He’s pretty advanced relative to a normal freshman,” Groce said.
Jordan is trying to work himself back into shape after missing time as a result of bruising his knee playing in the IBCA All-Star game.
