COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Seven Illini combined to give the men’s tennis team 11 victories at the Conference Challenge, which concluded Sunday. The event opened the team’s fall season.
Asher Hirsch was the top Illinois competitor, earning three singles wins and assisting in a doubles triumph. Hirsch defeated Texas Tech’s Connor Curry (7-5, 6-3, 6-3) and Harvard’s Kelvin Lam (6-4, 6-3) and Grant Solomon (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) in singles and teamed with Alex Jesse to toppled Harvard’s Andy Zhou and Jean Thirouin 8-4.
Julian Childers and Pengxuan Jiang each picked up two singles wins for the Illini, while Pablo Landa and Aron Hiltzik both recorded one.
