Lou Henson is out of the hospital in Houston, his wife told The News-Gazette on Friday.
Mary Henson also said the winningest coach in Illinois men's basketball history will start chemotherapy treatments for a bone marrow disorder.
The 83-year-old coaching Hall of Famer flew to Houston last Sunday and checked into the MD Anderson Cancer Center for tests to determine why his immune system had become compromised. He had been in an isolation unit at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana prior to traveling to Houston.
Henson is staying in Houston with family. He is slated to receive seven days of treatment, then have 21 days off, for an indefinite period.
