CHAMPAIGN — Joe Henricksen doesn’t mince words when it comes to college basketball recruiting.
The City/Suburban Hoops Report publisher — who was a guest on WDWS 1400-AM’s “Saturday SportsTalk” with Steve Kelly and Loren Tate — said a 2017 in-state recruit with ties to Illinois has elevated his game this spring. And, in doing so, Peoria Manual prospect DaMonte Williams made a lasting impression on Henricksen.
“I watched him at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament last December for 2 1/2 games,” Henricksen said of the 6-foot-3 guard. “I walked away unimpressed. I didn’t even know if he was going to be a high-major.
