CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois Football defensive coordinator Hardy Nickerson resigned Monday morning, per a tweet from Chicago Tribune’s Shannon Ryan.
Ryan clarified the reasoning minutes later due to “health-related circumstances.”
Illinois’ defense is among the worst units in the country and allowed 63 points and more than 700 yards in a 30-point loss to Maryland on Saturday.
We’ll update this story this afternoon as more information comes out at Lovie Smith’s 1 p.m. press conference.
