CHAMPAIGN — Illinois’ four-set loss to then-No. 9 Ohio State on Saturday night had its share of disappointments.
Strides made the previous night against Penn State were not repeated.
An Illini team that prides itself on defense struggled in that regard.
It was also Illinois’ fourth consecutive loss, matching the longest for the Illini in Kevin Hambly’s seven years as coach.

“I thought (Jocelynn Birks) did a great job of leading these last two nights, and we couldn’t get everyone on the same page with that,” Hambly said after the loss to the Buckeyes.
