CHAMPAIGN — Generations of Illinois basketball merged Tuesday as Lou Henson and the Illini Rebounders booster club gave Illini great Dee Brown an orange blazer to wear while he’s on the job as special assistant to the athletic director.
“I’m a big tradition guy. It was instilled in me when I went here,” Brown said. “It’s a great gift to have, and I’m just happy to be here on stage with one of the greats.”
UI coach John Groce also stopped by the luncheon, calling Brown and Henson two of his all-time favorite Illini.
Groce said he loved Henson’s positivity.
