CHAMPAIGN — So much for the positive vibes from a two-game midweek sweep of Coastal Carolina.
The Illinois baseball team's struggles in Big Ten play continued Friday night, with the Illini watching a late lead slip through their fingers in a 4-2 loss to Maryland at Illinois Field.
"We let one get away from us," coach Dan Hartleb said after Illinois (19-9, 0-4 Big Ten) wasted an excellent outing from starter Andy Fisher.
Fisher was tossing a one-hitter through eight innings before the Terrapins (14-14, 2-2) got hits on the first two pitches of the ninth.
