Fourth-quarter letdown sinks Illini women

CHAMPAIGN — Matt Bollant wanted Teniya Page to join his Illinois basketball team this season. Now we know why.

The freshman point guard hit 5 of 6 shots in the fourth quarter as Penn State outscored the Illini 27-16 for a 65-56 Big Ten victory at State Farm Center.

“It came down to us and Penn State for Teniya,” Bollant said. “I don’t think I’ve ever recruited a kid harder than we recruited her.

“I thought she was really special late in the game.”

Page is from Marian Catholic. She has three more years to go against her home-state school.
