HALLE, Germany — Former Illini Rajeev Ram and doubles partner Raven Klaasen repeated as Gerry Weber Open champions Sunday, defeating Lukasz Kubot and Alexander Peya 7-6 (7), 6-2 in the event’s doubles final.
It marked the first doubles title for Ram since he and Klaasen took the Gerry Weber Open crown in 2015. The win gave Ram his ninth career professional doubles championship and 11th across all forms of play.
Additionally on Sunday, Florian Mayer beat Alexander Zverev 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 to win the Gerry Weber Open singles title in an all-German final.
