RANTOUL — He isn’t a rah-rah cheerleader. Wes Lunt is not that type of football player.
The Illinois quarterback prefers to let his pinpoint accuracy, strong arm and sound decision-making do the talking on the field.
Lunt, though, is adjusting to a more prominent role than just what he does with his right arm. More so than at any time during his first three years with the Illini after transferring from Oklahoma State.
Unlike last year, there is no competition for the starting quarterback job this training camp. Lunt doesn’t have to fend off Reilly O’Toole or Aaron Bailey.
