Our college football writer's most worthy football candidates to join the Illinois athletics Hall of Fame:
1. J.C. Caroline, Running back
Confidence is high that the nation's leading rusher in 1953 lands one of the spots in the Class of 2019. Besides his great work at Illinois, he had a long career in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. College Football Hall of Famer later came back to C-U as a coach/educator.
2. David Williams, Wide receiver
College Football Hall of Famer set school records that figure to never be broken. Two-time All-American became just the second player in NCAA history to catch 100 passes in a season.
