CHAMPAIGN — It was more than a century ago that Champaign Central last had as many as three different varsity basketball head coaches in a three-year span.
That scenario became reality last fall when Sergio McClain was hired as the interim coach after his father, Wayne McClain, passed away.
When next year’s season starts in November, the Maroons will be under the direction of their fourth head coach in four years.
The Unit 4 Board of Education formally approved ex-Illini Jeff Finke as the Maroons’ next varsity coach on Monday night.
The coaching dominoes at the school started after the 2012-13 season, when Scott Davis resigned following a 5-20 record after his 21st year as coach.
