CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Another first for Bill Cubit at Illinois. This time, it is his first game away from home
And it is the coach’s first trip to Chapel Hill for a game.
Cubit chose not to take his team to Kenan Stadium on Friday after the two-hour flight from Willard Airport.
Instead, the Illini went directly to their headquarters at Durham’s swanky DoubleTree by Hilton.
“We did all our work back there at the complex,” Cubit said outside the hotel on Friday night.
The team could have gone to Chapel Hill on Friday after landing.
