CHAMPAIGN — Bill Cubit is happy to be home.
After a rough afternoon in Chapel Hill, N.C., Illinois returns to Memorial Stadium on Saturday for the first of two consecutive home games. Nebraska visits next Saturday.
“You hope that you learn a lot from last week,” the Illinois coach said following Friday’s late-afternoon walkthrough. “We’re playing a really good football team. I don’t think we played like we did the first two weeks (against North Carolina) in terms of the fundamentals. We’ve just got to get back.”
His team had a bad case of the drops in North Carolina, letting nine passes go from hand to turf.
