RANTOUL —The recruiting letters from Big Ten schools didn’t pour in for Clayton Fejedelem.
Despite becoming one of the most dominant players in one of the more competitive conferences — the South Suburban Blue — during his senior season at Lemont High School in 2010, the defensive back wasn’t getting much attention.
“I always wanted to play Division I football,” Fejedelem said. “I wasn’t the size I was now coming out of high school, so I didn’t have the offers.”
The reasons always puzzled former Lemont coach Eric Michaelsen.
“We didn’t get a whole lot of interest from the bigger schools,” Michaelsen said.
