CHAMPAIGN — Mason Monheim can relate. To a certain extent.
The Illinois linebacker doesn’t run routes or catch touchdowns like Mikey Dudek.
But the senior understands the expectations placed upon a key second-year player. Particularly one coming off an injury.
“The only change you see is he’s just more comfortable around the team,” said Monheim, who underwent surgery for a groin tear after his freshman season, but did not miss a game during the 2013 season and enters this season with 35 consecutive starts.
“That just comes with time, and that’s good to see. When you’re comfortable, you’re relaxed.
