Illinois Fighting Illini Basketball legend Dee Brown has been inducted into the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame. Brown, who attended Proviso East high school, finished his high school career as the school's all-time leader in scoring, assists and steals, and averaged 25.6 points, 5.5 assists and 2.9 steals per game as a senior. Brown was named Illinois Mr. Basketball in 2002 before continuing his playing career in Champaign.
Fellow Illini Lowell Hamilton has also been honored with an induction. Hamilton led Providence-St. Mel to a third place finish in the 1984 IHSA playoffs as well as a Class A state title in 1985; he was voted one of the "100 Legends of the IHSA Boys Basketball Tournament" in 2007.
