DANVILLE — When 16 of the best community college men's basketball teams compete for the national title in Danville in March, they will play on the Dick Shockey Court.
By a 6-0 vote, Danville Area Community College trustees on Thursday approved naming the court in the Mary Miller Gym after the longtime administrator who brought the NJCAA's Division II national basketball tournament to town in 1993 and served as its director every year until his death in November.
While courts typically are named for coaches, DACC President Stephen Nacco noted, in this case, it's fitting.
The tournament "has been part of the fabric of this community for 25 years now .
