CHAMPAIGN — Vince Biegel drove Wes Lunt into the turf late in the first quarter.
The Illinois quarterback jogged off the field after the Wisconsin linebacker put a hard hit on Lunt, and it wasn’t Lunt’s left shoulder that hurt, but rather his right throwing hand.
“I came down on my middle finger and hit it on my helmet,” Lunt said. “I think it’s fine.”
It’s the first significant injury scare this season for Lunt, who is all too familiar with getting hurt. A fractured fibula and sprained MCL cost him four games last season.
“I just threw the whole game (on the sidelines) because I wanted to keep my finger loose,” Lunt said.
