CHAMPAIGN — Bill Cubit stood near the tunnel that leads up to the Illinois locker room after No. 2 Ohio State downed his Illini 28-3 on Saturday afternoon, waiting for his players to filter past him.
The Illinois interim coach waited while a host of reporters placed their recording devices onto the podium inside the Illini team room.
The 62-year-old even waited to give his wife, Nancy, a kiss on the cheek before exiting through a side door and into the northeast corner of Memorial Stadium after 20 minutes analyzing the most recent Illini loss to Ohio State.
