CHAMPAIGN — All Reggie Corbin could do last year was watch while Illinois produced the Big Ten’s worst rushing offense.
A torn labrum he suffered last August performing a block at Camp Rantoul, and subsequent surgery to fix a nagging injury stemming from his high school career, sidelined the running back for the entire 2015 season.
While Corbin nursed his left shoulder back to health, Illinois went through an upheaval off the field, with firings of Tim Beckman and Bill Cubit in a span of six months before hiring Lovie Smith in early March.
Smith brought aboard offensive coordinator Garrick McGee, who knows what he wants to see out of Corbin whenever he spells Ke’Shawn Vaughn this season.
